Like the Light in My Hands

I want to hold you like the light in my hands
Like lungs hold the pace of breathing
And a heart, the space of beating
I want to take you into my arms
The way the grasses take in the winds
That have traveled, oh, so far from the sea
And what a journey
Laden with salt from seaweed
And wishes from lonely hearts
I will watch over you like the sky.

Looping Miles Between Us

What a gift it is
to hold you
the softness leaving no space
between us
Grateful presence
becoming backs of wrists
curving sounds
and drifting moment to moment
Each step, conversation
in sunlight
leading wherever it is
we’re going
however many miles loop
between us

You have stretched
the blink before the cold
and filled coming storms with the possibility
of warmer nights ahead.

A Dream, A Memory

You are a dream
you were barely real
and are fading

In each moment
memory gives way
becomes imagination

But when two souls meet
whatever lifetime
sparks of lightning
outshine the moon

Time may delude
that shock of thunder
but the echo still beats
in my blood.
