Day 5 Prompt: Vegetable
I am not a flower
I can’t even grow one
and if one does rise from the bulb
if blooms do continue to raise petal to sun
I would never arrange it properly
Plants, too few
layering, too sparse
Lilies all wrong and beside one another
All pots plain, the same, in line at attention
Landscaping, it’s own hinterland
But garden, I can
though flowers defeat me
the vegetable will never desert me
An edible flower has nothing on a tomato
nor the nutritional value of broccoli.
There’s a sly charm in ‘vegetable’. I write longer things, but i admire brevity.

Thank you, Stuart! Your “longer things” sounds very interesting. I plan to give your novels a look.
