Day 1: Resistance
The pull of limbs and wind
deeper, it calls me
deeper
Come, share this earth
listen
we are waking
They are stretching
creaking,
straining towards the sun
We have survived
they say
battered
fewer.
They do not whisper
not to me
I hear them speaking
without tongues
The wind whispering
among them
around me
I make my way
through the bend
Overhear Sun and Moon
their silent lovespeak
But I have turned
toward pavement
receding green
and bark
Yet they pull me
back, calling
from deeper
Even the wind
rises against my leave
Even memory
pulls me back
to the trees
the dark
the forest.
